Innocent

Do you know that feeling you have after doing something seriously wrong? That feeling of needing to make it right by making some sort of payment? That feeling can last for years. Some have it come on so strong that they think they deserve to go to hell. Have you ever wondered why you feel that way? Or why those feelings just won’t leave?

I think it’s because part our being is tied to a court system where the persecutor is extremely legalistic. Whenever anyone does anything wrong, he demands a payment that is many times worse than the wrong-doing. He often settles on handing out a lifetime of guilt, shame, and ailments. But he prefers a sentence of severe brutality and a commitment to hell.

This is the very reason Jesus CHOSE to die such a horrendous and torturous death. In doing so, Jesus made a plea bargain with the court where ALL wrong-doings require an automatic sentence of suffering AND death. In exchange for us pleading guilty, the judge agreed to allow Jesus to serve our sentence.

After Jesus served the sentence of torture, death, and hell, the court’s ruling is that we are acquitted of all wrong-doings.

If you know all this but are still suffering, it’s time to enforce what the judge has ruled. The prosecutor never rests when it comes to finding legal loopholes. He’s an expert at convincing us of things that would never hold up in court.

You have been given the judgment of “innocent.” The truth is found in Collosians 2:14 – Having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; Jesus has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
